We expect these kids to be moral beings, yet instead we maximize their exposure to other not-yet-moral beings. The type of interactions kids are exposed at in a school, are not "part of growing up", anymore than being beaten by your parents was a century ago. Honestly, i'm surprised schools can even operate legally. Let kids treat buying a book as an investment. Take away age from the equation: anyone is allowed to take the test, and get paid for it.Īnd just let society deal with the rest. To provide financial incentives for taking and succeeding at standardized tests (that you either pass or not, but no special grades) maybe even having a school building, let alone a class, is not the right idea.
